This type of bodywork is used when a client feels a knot, active pain in a specific area or experiences loss of range of motion (ROM). Myotherapy is advantageous when applied where muscle tissue and fascia are bound in a certain area. It can be a deep, intense form of bodywork, however the amount of pressure used will vary from person to person. The success of this method is determined by the use of exercise and stretching to return the muscle to its original resting length.
